Electric Shaving Tips:
Modern electric shavers are far more advanced than those originally manufactured from the 1940s. You can now enjoy a clean shave without irritation when using an electric shaver. The following shaving tips will help you achieve your best electric shave ever.
1) Always wash your face before shaving. Removing facial oils allows your beard hair to stand up, rather than lie down, which increases the effectiveness of an electric shaver. Using plenty of hot water will cause your beard hair to raise in preperation for shaving.
2) Using a quality pre shave such as Williams Lectric Shave really does make a difference in your shaving results. A pre shave will remove more facial oil from your beard than just washing your face with soap.
3) Allow a minute or two for your face to fully dry before shaving. Again we want that razor stubble pointing outward rather than lying down against your face.
4) Let the shaver do the work. Move the shaver aross your face with moderate pressure. Remember that beard hair grows from different angles. Move the shaver in, and out, from several different angles and use clockwise and counterclockwise circular motions. Ensuring the shaver intersects your beard at the correct angle for growth allows the shaver blades to efficiently remove the hair below skin level.
5) Glide your free hand across your face when the shaver has just passed to detect any whiskers that are growing from an angle other than the one that your shaver has just exited. Always ensure that you shave first across the angle of beard growth on the first pass and against the angle of beard growth on subsequent passes.
6) Using after shave lotion promotes a healthty beard and face by killing germs than can cause infections in the hair follicles on your face. Some alcohol in after shave lotion is required to kill the germs that can cause infections, nasty red bumps and ingrown hairs. Either use an after shave that contains a balm for conditioning the skin or follow your after shave lotion with an application of after shave balm to moistureize your face. Using a moisturizing lotion as the final step in your shave will ensure that your face stays smooth and well hydrated.
7) If you're just making the switch from blade to electric shaving, you need to give your skin two to three weeks to acclimate to electric shaving. Electric shaving differs from blade shaving due to the shave screen that separates the shaver blades from your skin. When using an electric shaver you are shaving only the beard and not the skin. Blade shaving actually scrapes off a small layer of skin each time that you shave. Blade shaving can lead to razor burn, an irritation that results from exessive skin removal. The adjustment period is required in order for the facial skin to regrow to it's natural state. Switching back and forth between blade and electric shaving is counterproductive and should be avoided.
